Carlos "Roddy" Rodriguez is a U.S. Air Force combat veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He serves as the Director and a Certified Peer Support Specialist for Minot Vets for Vets, where he supports veterans, active-duty service members, and their families as they navigate the challenges of reintegration. This work is personal to him because he has walked that path himself. Carlos says that it wasn’t until he found real peer support--veterans who understood him without explanation--that he began to heal. That’s why peer support isn’t just part of what he does now, but is at the heart of who I he is. Helping veteran brothers and sisters through their own darkness is what drives him every single day.
