Peer Vision for Mental Health is a fully peer-run nonprofit organization, established for the purpose of supporting persons in our community who seek to live well despite experiencing mental health concerns. Founded by individuals with lived experience of mental health-related issues, Peer Vision embraces the idea that connection and community are the foundation of mental health recovery, that peer support can provide an added tool for individuals to use in their pursuit of well-being, and that, when individuals are supported and healthy, their communities are, too.
Our mission, as a peer-driven organization, is to unite our communities through advocacy, support, and empowerment to anyone who is in recovery or identifies with any mental health challenge.
Peer Vision for Mental Health aims to walk alongside peers on their journey to wellness. In addition, Peer Vision strives to encourage community partnerships, educational opportunities, and peer support opportunities that strengthen recovery and wellness in North Dakota.
Peer Vision may be a young organization, but we are already creating an impact in the Minot community. Peer Vision recently became the managing agency for the Harmony Center, a community mental health center in Minot that provides mental health peer support, recovery education, and wellbeing-supportive activities. We have also established a veteran-specific peer support community, known as Vets for Vets, and are working to develop and expand that resource for former service members looking for supportive connection.
Peer Vision recognizes the growing base of evidence that supports and celebrates the use of peer services for many aspects of human well-being. It is our plan to work toward bringing the power of peer support and shared lived experience to all in our communities who might benefit.
Peer Vision's logo says much more than may immediately meet the eye. Our logo illustrates our view of how each person's lived experience may be transformed through the prism of peer support, allowing life that is colorful and beautiful to emerge despite one's wellness challenges. The colors represent connection, growth, and possibility--three pillars of peer support.
